RS - Deconstruction of A Nightmare on Elm Street

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984, Wes Craven)

Budget: $1,800,000
US Box Office takings: $10,777,659
Six sequels, a spin off known as Freddy vs Jason and a remake released in 2010.
  • Close up of the feet.
  • High angle close up of Freddy putting a couple of knives on on a table.
  • Another close up of Freddy grabbing a glove.
  • Creepy non-diagetic music.
  • Freddy's iconic red jumper signifies blood and death, due to the colour scheme.
  • One of the close ups is of Freddy cutting an object next to a pair of glasses. This could be foreshadowing the fate of a certain character later on.
  • Quick pace, due to the number of close ups.
  • The opening is basically a production process of Freddy's iconic weapon.
  • Extreme close up of Freddy putting the glove on.
